Vivian Ting, M.D.,F.A.C.S, is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery

Dr. Ting’s practice, Veritas Plastic Surgery, is located in Walnut Creek near John Muir Medical Center. She specializes in aesthetic surgery of the face and body and reconstruction for breast and skin cancer. She has full privileges at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, St. Francis Memorial Hospital, and courtesy privileges at UCSF Medical Center. She operates at both John Muir Medical Center and Aspen Surgery Center, where she is a member of the Medical Executive Committee.

 



Dr. Ting graduated magna cum laude in biology from Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1988. She received her medical degree in 1993 from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and was elected to the national medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA). After completing an internship in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, she decided to pursue a career in surgery. She completed a full general surgery residency at the University of Rochester in New York. During this time, she also completed a year-long fellowship in tissue engineering and microsurgery research with the prestigious Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University Medical Center where she created a technique to engineer ear and nose-shaped cartilages for potential surgical use.

She then decided to follow her true passion and returned to Boston to complete a full plastic surgery residency at the Harvard Combined Plastic Surgery Residency Program in 2003. where she was Chief Resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

She completed a traveling fellowship to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, a center of renowned international microsurgical excellence and Asian aesthetic surgery, and a visiting cosmetic surgery fellowship at the Manhattan Eye and Ear Institute under the tutelage of Drs. Sherell Aston, Daniel Baker and Alan Matarasso, all internationally recognized for excellence in cosmetic surgery. She has been able to utilize her extensive training and experience to craft outstanding results in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Ting is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at UCSF Medical Center where she performed the first microsurgical anterolateral thigh flap ever performed at UCSF as well as the first deep inferior epigastric free flap performed at San Francisco General Hospital. She has frequently addressed the local community on breast reconstruction topics and is a panel member of the John Muir Breast Tumor Board. She is a past member of the Medical Executive Committee at Aspen Surgery Center.

Her charitable interests include cleft lip and palate surgery on mission trips and fundraising for the annual John Muir Breast Health Services “Evening in pink” event which provides free screenings and diagnostic studies to unserved women in Contra Costa County.
